Veteran's Day Program

The Navy League has sponsored an Annual Veteran's Day Program at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month [in memory of Armistice Day] for the last 16 years. In 2020, we adapted a COVID-coping program that 'went live' on 24 different social media accounts simultaneously. Our video is available for watching via our Oak Harbor Lions YouTube page, as they graciously hosted our event for us there. Be sure to download our digital program (click here for PDF download) to follow along during our Celebration!

Join us as we COVID-cope with our Annual Veterans Day Celebration, this year offered online through several community Facebook hosts! Thanks to our partners, Oak Harbor Lions and Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce; and to our several sponsors who have helped bring this presentation to our community!

This year's presentation will feature interviews with two veterans: a Navy vet from WWII and a USMC vet from OIF/OEF (Purple Heart awardee), interviewed by city councilwoman Erica Wasinger; veteran mental health; several guest speakers (Navy Region Northwest, RDML Stephen Barnett, Congressman Rick Larsen, and Oak Harbor Mayor Bob Severns); Navy Band Northwest Quintet (filmed at Kitsap); a vocalist from NIOC for the national anthem (filmed at NASWI); Color Guards will be from Sons of the American Revolution George Washington Chapter and Oak Harbor High School NJROTC; plus, additional support from the Patriot Guard Riders.
